What we collect, why, and what we don’t do with it.
We’re a small press. We collect only what we need to ship a book or answer your email. We don’t sell your data, run ad trackers, or use your information to train models. The details are below.
Who this applies to
This Privacy Policy describes how Starborn Press (“we,” “us,” “our”) collects, uses, and shares personal information through this website and the email, phone, and mail you exchange with us in connection with it. By using the site or buying a book, you accept the practices described here.
Sites and services we link to operate under their own privacy policies; this one doesn’t cover them.
Information you give us
To place an order: name, shipping and billing address, email address, and phone (if you give us one). Card details are handled directly by our payment processor — we never see or store them.
To contact us: your email address, the contents of your message, and anything else you choose to share.
For mailing-list signups elsewhere in the Starborn group: your email address and any preferences you set. (Starborn Press itself does not run a newsletter on this site.)
Information collected automatically
When you visit the site, our hosting provider records standard server logs: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the page you asked for, the referring URL, and the time of the request. We use these to keep the site running and to investigate problems.
We use a small number of strictly-necessary cookies to keep your cart working and to remember your session. We do not run advertising cookies, marketing pixels, or cross-site identifiers on this site.
How we use information
To fulfill your order — processing payment, shipping the book, sending tracking, and handling returns.
To respond to your emails and requests.
To operate, maintain, and improve the site, investigate technical issues, and detect or prevent fraud and abuse.
To comply with our legal obligations, including tax and accounting record-keeping.
What we don’t do with it
We don’t sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
We don’t share it with advertisers, data brokers, or other publishers for their marketing.
We don’t use your information — or anything you write to us — to train artificial-intelligence models.
Who we share with
To run a publishing business we share what’s necessary with a small number of service providers acting on our behalf, including a payment processor (to charge your card), a shipping carrier (to deliver your book), an email provider (to reply to you), and our website hosting provider. Each only receives what they need to do their job and is contractually required to protect it.
We’ll share information when we’re legally required to — for example, a valid subpoena, court order, or government request — or when we reasonably believe it’s necessary to protect our rights, prevent fraud, or address a serious safety issue. We’ll push back on overreach.
If Starborn Press is acquired, merged, or restructured, your information may transfer to the successor entity. We’ll let you know if that happens and the successor will be bound by a privacy policy at least as protective as this one.
How long we keep things
Order records: as long as we need to for tax and accounting purposes — typically seven years.
Email threads: indefinitely, unless you ask us to delete them.
Server logs: rotated out after 30 days.
Cookies: session cookies end when you close your browser; the cart cookie persists for 30 days unless you clear it.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information — among them encrypted connections (TLS), reputable processors, and access on a need-to-know basis. No method of transmission or storage is one hundred percent secure, so while we work hard to protect what you give us we can’t guarantee absolute security. If we ever learn of a breach that affects you, we’ll notify you as required by law.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what personal information we have on you, correct anything that’s wrong, delete it (subject to the legal-record exceptions in section 07), or opt out of any marketing communications we send. Write to info@starbornpress.com and we’ll respond within thirty days. We may need to verify your identity before we act, particularly for deletion requests.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information we’ve collected, to request deletion, to correct inaccuracies, and to opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law. You may exercise these rights using the email above, and may designate an authorized agent to act on your behalf with proof of authorization.
Residents of the EEA, the UK, or other jurisdictions with their own privacy laws: the rights afforded to you under those laws — access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction, objection — apply. The legal bases on which we process your information are contract performance (orders), legitimate interests (running and securing the site), and consent or legal obligation where applicable.
International data
Our site and most of our service providers are located in the United States. If you’re visiting us from outside the U.S., the information you send us will be transferred to and processed there, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country. By using the site, you consent to that transfer.
Links to other sites
Our site may link to sites operated by other organizations — booksellers, partner platforms, social networks. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we don’t control and aren’t responsible for. If you follow a link off this site, please review the privacy policy of the site you land on.
Children
This site isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, write to us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in any meaningful way, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of the page and, where appropriate, notify you by email or by a notice on the site. The substantive parts — what we collect, what we don’t, who we share with — won’t change without a real reason.
