How to license, quote, translate, or otherwise use our work.
We’re a small press and we read every request. The notes below cover the most common asks. If yours isn’t here, write to us and we’ll point you to the right person.
Copyright
All titles published by Starborn Press are protected by copyright. Unless otherwise noted, copyright is held by the author and licensed to Starborn Press. Cover art, jacket design, and interior typography are copyright of Starborn Press.
No part of any Starborn Press book may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system, or transmitted in any form or by any means — electronic, mechanical, photocopy, recording, or otherwise — without prior written permission, except as expressly permitted by United States copyright law or as described on this page.
Quotation, review, and fair use
You may quote brief passages in reviews, articles, blog posts, podcasts, and academic criticism without seeking permission, provided that:
- The total quoted material does not exceed 300 words from any single title.
- The quotation is properly attributed (title in italics, author, publisher, year).
- The use is for non-commercial review, scholarship, criticism, or news reporting.
For longer excerpts, commercial uses, or any use in another book or commercial product, please request permission below.
Reprint & excerpt permissions
To reproduce content from a Starborn Press title in an anthology, textbook, study guide, course pack, magazine, or other commercial work, write to info@starbornpress.com with:
- The title, author, and edition you want to quote from.
- The exact passage and word count, with page numbers.
- Where it will appear — publisher, title of the new work, publication date.
- Print run, retail price, and territory.
- Format (print, ebook, audio, web) and language.
Fees are set per request and depend on the length of the excerpt, the print run, and the territory. Allow four to six weeks for a reply.
Translation & foreign rights
Translation and foreign-language publication rights for all Starborn Press titles are handled in-house. We license world rights, exclusive of the territories already under contract.
Foreign publishers and literary agencies interested in acquiring translation rights should contact info@starbornpress.com. Reading copies (PDF) are available on request.
Audio, film, television & dramatic rights
Subsidiary rights — including audiobook, film, television, dramatic, serial, and merchandising rights — are managed by Starborn Press unless otherwise reserved by the author. Inquiries should be directed to info@starbornpress.com.
Educators, clinicians & coursework
Instructors considering a Starborn Press title for adoption in a course, training program, or clinical practice may request a complimentary review copy. Write to info@starbornpress.com from an institutional email and include the course name, term, approximate enrollment, and the title under consideration.
Classroom and clinical-handout reproduction of single chapters or short excerpts is generally granted at no fee for non-commercial educational use. Course packs and bound coursework require a standard permissions request.
Bulk & institutional orders
Discounts are available on orders of ten or more copies for schools, libraries, nonprofits, parenting groups, and clinical practices. Write to info@starbornpress.com with the title, the quantity, the shipping address, and any deadline.
Press & review copies
Journalists, reviewers, podcasters, and producers may request a review copy — print or digital — from info@starbornpress.com. Please include your outlet, audience or circulation, the title you’d like, and your deadline.
Author interviews, op-eds, and excerpts for editorial use can be arranged through the same address.
Trademarks & brand assets
“Starborn Press,” the Starborn Press wordmark, and the three-streak mark are trademarks of Starborn Ventures. Use of our name, logo, or jacket designs in advertising, endorsements, or as part of another product requires written permission.
Editorial use of cover images — in book reviews, news stories, and bookseller listings — does not require advance permission. High-resolution jacket images are available on request from info@starbornpress.com.
Copyright infringement notices
To report a suspected copyright infringement of a Starborn Press title or to submit a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, write to info@starbornpress.com. Notices should include the title and edition affected, the location of the alleged infringement (URL or other identifier), your contact information, and a statement made under penalty of perjury that you are authorized to act on behalf of the rights holder.
We’d rather a wider readership than a tighter grip. If your request is reasonable and properly attributed, we will almost always say yes.
